Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a measuring table which is free from thermal deformation, has high hardness, is highly resistant to corrosion, heat and abration and is inexpensive by using a sintered body having 0.1-20% porosities such as corundum, alundum, mullite, silicon carbide or the like. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of coarse grains having 0.2-5mm. grain sizes and<=5mum fine grains, consisting essentially of corundum, alundum, mullite, silicon carbide or their mixture is controlled to 0.1-20% porosities and is sintered at 1,300-1,500 deg.C, and the working surface thereof is polished flat, whereby an inorg, sintered ultraprecision measuring table is obtained. For example, the figure is the partly sectional fragmentary perspective view of the surface plate made by this system, wherein the working surface 1a is a lapped surface which permits coloring as well for the purpose of preventing the eye's fatigue or for displaying of accuracy and also permits easy plastic painting or the like of outside walls 2a and reinforcing ribs 3a. The surface plate of this system does not cause thermal deformation, has high hardness, is highly resistant to corrosion, heat and abrasion, and makes inexpensive provision of the ultraprecision measuring tables possible.
