Abstract
PURPOSE:To relatively simply detect the deflecting position of charged ink particles, by a method wherein a charged ink droplet line and a non-charged ink droplet line are alternately measured by using non-contact electrostatic induction electrodes and digitally processing. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 6 provided with a pair of deflection detecting electrodes 61, 62 is placed with respect to a deflection path 11 of charged ink particles deflected by deflection electrodes 41, 42 so that the deflection path 11 is located in the center between the electrodes 61, 62. Ink jetted out from a head 1 is selectively charged by means of a central processing unit 12 through a charge voltage generator 13 and a charge electrode 2 so that a line comprising n (e.g., five) continuous charged ink droplets and a line comprising n (e.g., five) continuous non-charged ink droplets are alternately formed. Then, the sine-wave potential change obtained by the deflection detecting electrodes 61, 62 is processed in a deflecting position detecting circuit 63 to obtain a digitalized deflection position signal.
