Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a printer which prevents generation of inferior prints by providing an electric charge to ink particles while shifting the phase of a leak detection signal of a narrow width with the help of a video signal during nonprinting action and processing a high pressure leak when the electric charge is detected with all the phases. CONSTITUTION:An electric discharge on a high pressure part is detected by means of a sensor 10 set in the neighborhood of a flight route of ink particles 7. Ink settles between deflection electrodes 8, 9 to generate a condensate 19 which approaches a certain distance to the said electrodes causing an electric discharge. During nonprinting action, a leak detection signal of either of theta1-thetan is appied to an electrically charged electrode 6 and this is detected by means of the sensor 10. The leak detection signal is created by dividing an oscillation cycle T equally by 1/n and shifting the divided n times by (1/n)XT. One phase condition is held until electric charging into the ink, picking up of an induction current by means of a sensor and judgement with a divaluation circuit are completed. When a detection signal has been detected by all the phases, a high pressure leak is treated.
