Abstract
PURPOSE:To hold the position of an electrode for a long time in an oil hydraulically driven diesinking electric discharge machine, by switching oil hydraulically driven directions of the electrode in such a manner that the position of the machining electrode is moved backward if it reaches a prescribed position while the electrode is moved forward if not reaching said position. CONSTITUTION:An oil hydraulic cylinder 2 is provided in the column 1 of a diesinking electric discharge machine to drive a main spindle 3 and electrode 5 to the direction of a Z-axis. Contact electrodes 10, 11 are provided in the main spindle 3 and the column 1, then the electrode 5 can be detected its reaching to a prescribed position. The electrode 5, before reaching the prescribed position, causes a transistor 12 to turn off, then an electro-hydraulic servo valve 7 is controlled to move the electrode 5 downward. When the electrode 5 reaches the prescribed position, the transistor 12 is turned on then the electrode 5 is lifted backward by the electro-hydraulic servo valve 7. In this way, the electrode can held for a long time in the vicinity of the prescribed position.
