Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable measurement of temperature at points accompanying large noise with a high voltage of high voltage equipment or the like with no power supply by optically meauring a magnetic field generated according to the temperature by a thermal-magnetic conversion section. CONSTITUTION:Light from a source 1 propagates through an optical fiber 9 and is detected by a detection section 6 after propagating through an optical fiber 10 via a d.c. polarizing element 2, a Faraday element 3 and a light detecting element 5 with the polarizing face thereof parallel to the polarizig element 2. On the other hand, a thermal-magnetic conversion section made up of a magnet 7 and a temperature sensitive ferrite 8 provided near a section to be detected generates a magnetic field changing according to the temperature thereof. Therefore, the polarizing face of the element 3 varies according to the temperature of an object being measured whereby the temperature can be optically measured through the detection section 6. This enables the complete and accurate measurement of temperature accompanying large noise with a voltage of high voltage equipment or the like with no power supply.
