Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a high-reliable sodium penetrating device which can check for a short time, by a method wherein a transducer is mounted at a forward end of a pantograph mechanism being supported by means of a rotary housing which pierces throgh a rotary plug in a nuclear reactor and is free to move vertically and rotate. CONSTITUTION:With a pantograph mechanism 6 folded, it is inserted into a rotary vessel, which is filled with Na 4, in a state that a supporting link 7 for a transducer is housed in a rotary housing 8. With a drive unit 5 actuated, a control shaft 24 is pressed downward to unfold the pantograph mechanism 6. With a revolving device 9 operated, a transducer 25 is positioned facing and opposite to and in parallel to an inner surface of an inner surface of the reactor vessel. With the transducer 25 transmitting and receiving ultrasonic wave, the whole surface of an inner wall is scanned through the turn of a rotary plug 1, and the whole pantograph mechanism is raised several mm. by means of a lifter 9. Inspection is made through the repeat of said operations. Thus, inspection can be conducted for a short time, and high reliability can also be provided to the device.
