Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent damage to the shaft seal by taking pressure balance applying delivery pressure to the internal chamber of pump against back pressure of the impeller, and at the time of usage in the depths of the sea, taking pressure balance also between internal pressure of the chamber and the hydrostatic pressure of water outside.
CONSTITUTION: When the pump is set at a shallow depth in water, the valve 22 under No.2 pressure regulator tank 19 is closed, and the delivery pressure is transmitted through a discharge port 10, elbow 15, discharge pipe connection 16, No.1 pressure regulator tank 18 and a valve 21 into No.2 oil chamber 12. On the other hand, in case of installation at a substantial depth in water, the valve 21 under No.1 pressure regulator tank 18 is closed and the valve 22 opened, and the derivery pressure is transmitted through No.2 pressure regulator tank 19 and the valve 22 into No.2 oil chamber 12. Thus, by taking pressure balance of the shaft seal 14 by applying delivery pressure to the internal chamber 12 of the pump against the back pressure of the impeller 6, damage to the shaft seal 14, especially to the seal itself is prevented assuring longer service life.
