Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect an azimuth at the sea bottom and under the ground by providing a magnetic needle, oscillating in a plane parallel to an incidence terminal surface, in the visual field of an image pickup optical system provided to the incidence terminal surface of a picture transmission line, and observing a body to be measured at the same time. CONSTITUTION:To the incidence terminal surface 2a of the picture transmission line 2 of a front observation device, an image pickup adapter 3 having an incorporated image pickup lens system 5 is fitted. A magnetic needle 6 is so provided that it oscillates in a plane parallel to the end surface if the adapter 3 and in the visual field of the image pickup lens system 5. the magnetic needle 6 is installed in a transparent, watertight case 7, which is provided with an azimuth scale 10. In addition to the image pickup lens system 5, it is recommended that an imaging lens is provided and the magnetic needled between both the lenses. Consequenctly, for long- distance observation at the bottom of the sea and under the ground, an azimuth is recongnized correctedly even if a picture transmission line consisting of, for example, optical fibers is twisted.
