Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a highly efficient input of Japanese sentence including Chinese characters, by arraying HIRAGANA (Japanese syllabary) letters in such way that they are easily supplied through a keyboard and at the same time supplying the Chinese characters through two keyboards, respectively. CONSTITUTION:For an input device of characters which consists of a storage circuit 9 that stores an input produced through the operation of a key switch 6 and then delivers the input to an output mechanism 8, the switch 6 of a keyboard unit 7 consists of the 1st key switch group 6A in which the keys are distributed in laterak 4 stages at least in the number equal to or larger than the voiceless HIRAGANA letters plus the 2nd key switch group 6B in which the keys are distributed at the positions corresponding to those of the group 6A. Thus HIRAGANA letters can be supplied in the number equivalent to operations of keys in the group 6B. In the case of the Chinese characters, a prescribed Chinese character can be supplied through the operation of each key in the groups 6A and 6B.
