Abstract
PURPOSE:To add Al in high addition yields without variance to molten steel by ejecting the molten Al in a hermetic vessel directly into the molten steel by using an inverted U-shaped pipe member in adding Al to the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:Molten Al 2 is put into a hermetic vessel 1, and one end of an inverted U-shaped pipe member 6 is immersed into the Al 2. The other end is immersed in the molten metal 4 in a ladle 3 below said vessel. A pressurized gas supply source pipeline 7 for gaseous Ar, N, etc. is mounted to the member 1b of the vessel 1, and further a level detector for the molten Al in the vessel is installed. While the cooling of the molten Al in the vessel is prevented with a heater attached to said vessel, the level of the Al 2 is detected and the upper end of the member 6 is surely immersed in the Al 2. A pressurized gas such as Ar or N is introduced through the pipe 7 and the molten Al is supplied into the steel 4 through the pipe 6 by the pressurizing force thereof. In this case, the immersion part of the pipe 6 in the steel 4 is made of a paper pipe so as to be made replaceable.
