Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically and continuously apply a coating liquid in a fixed width with high accuracy, in the step of making a liquid crystal display element or the like, by relatively carrying an article to be coated, under a condition in contact with the coating liquid, against a fixed amount of the coating liquid adhered into a groove at the periphery of a rotary disc.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary disc 4, which will apply an adhesive onto a glass substrate 1 supported by a substrate holder 3, is arranged rotatably along the direction shown as the arrow A. The lower part of the disc 4 is dipped into the adhesive 6 in an adhesive reservoir 5. The rotary disc 4 is provided with a grooved part 4a at its periphery. A jig 7 for scraping an unnecessary adhesive is pressed onto the periphery of the rotary disc 4 at a slight pressure, to apply a fixed amount of the adhesive 6, which was carried by the grooved part 4a, onto the glass substrate 1. Consequently, the fixed amount of the adhesive can be applied with high accuracy.
