Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate foreign matters having lower specific gravities from cereals, by introducing the cereals with pressurized water into a cyclone, where pebbles, sand, metal pieces, etc. are separated from the cereals by a classification effect, and adhering fine bubbles onto all of the foreign matters.
CONSTITUTION: Pressurized water saturated with air is injected into a feeder 11 attached to a hopper 14, where cereals containing foreign matters are accompanied by the pressurized water, and introduced into a cyclone 20. In the cyclone 20, high specific gravity foreign matters, e.g. pebbles, sand, metal pieces, etc., involved in the cereals are separated from the cereals and collected at the bottom by a classification action owing to a turning movement and a difference in specific gravities, and removed from the system. Thereafter, the cereals are fed into a floating vessel 24, where dissolved air in the pressurized water forms fine bubbles due to the pressure drop and adheres onto solids in the vessel 24. Consequently, low specific gravity foreign matters and inferior cereals are floated by the bubbles and collected. Thus, the foreign matters are separated from the cereals.
