Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide easy manufacture and ensure welding through application of resistance-welding by pressing both negative and positive poles together in the through hole of a partition after the facing surface of each pole to be welded is smoothed. CONSTITUTION:A negative pole 8 and a positive pole 9 having the groups of plates 2, 2' respectively adjacent to each other, with a partition 1 interposed in between, are formed in square poles having smooth surfaces. The negative pole 8 and positive pole 9 are arranged so as to face a through hole 6 provided on partition 6, and compressed from both sides with welding electrodes 10 at the position coinciding with the through hole 1, then pressed in and brought in contact by having both poles 8, 9 deformed into the through hole 6. Both poles 8, 9 are resistance-welded by the electric current fed in the welding electrode 10, with the contact of both poles maintained. Furthermore, ring projections 11 provided around the welding electrodes 10 are pressed onto both poles 8, 9 as a result, ring projections 12, 12' are formed on the opposite sides of both poles 8, 9 and allowed to encroach onto the partition 1. This provides a good electrolyte leakage resistance.
