Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical branching filter which is simple, is small in size and is of low losses by using a condenser lens system having plural focuses. CONSTITUTION:Multiple beams of light of different wavelengths from an optical filter F0 are made into parallel beams by a lens A1, and these are angularly branched to single wavelength beams L1, L2... by an angularly branching element D such as diffrction grating. These beams L1... are imaged and made incident to optical fibers F1... formed of incident faces at the focus positions by a condenser lens A3 having plural focuses. By such constitution wherein a long focal length lens of the focus is not used, the branched beams are made incident to the fibers F1... with good efficiency with single mode fibers as well, and the optical branching filter of the simple and small size constitution and low losses is obtained.
