Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate forming an optical circuit of a small size and a small loss and to integrated it with an electric circuit into one body by providing wavelength dispersing elements on the exit side of an input optical fiber, and receiving the rays consisting of different wavelengths dispersed by said elements respectively by separate photodetectors. CONSTITUTION:An input optical fiber 1 and a photodetector 6 are arranged in such a way that the center of the core of the former and that of the photodetecting surfaces 71-7n of the latter align on one straight line and that the end faces thereof array on the same plane. The rays consisting of plural different wavelengths emitting from the fiber 1 are converted to parallel rays by a lens 2. These rays receive wavelength dispersion by a diffraction grating 3 and are reflected at the angles differing with each wavelength. These reflected rays are converged again by the lens 2 and form focus at the pisitions differing for each wavelength. Since the surfaces 71- 7n of the photodetector 6 are installed in the focal positions of these respective wavelengths, the rays of the respective wavelengths operate as optical branching filters detected at the respectively different photodetecting surfaces. Hence, with such constitution, the optical circuit of a small size and a low loss and an electric circuit are easily formed into one body.
