Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the suction force of soil and sand as well as increase the depth of excavation by providing a jet nozzle to a suction port attached to the tip of a ladder.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary 1 at the tip of the ladder 5 of a cutter pump ship is turned by an oil-pressure pipe 10, an oil-pressure motor 4, and a shaft 9. Water is jetted toward the suction port 7 through a high-pressure pipe 8 and a water jet nozzle 6 by a water jet pump. Soil and sand on the bottom under water are excavated by the rotary cutter 1 and then sucked forcibly into the suction port 7 by means of the jet stream of water and sent out.
