Abstract
PURPOSE:To contrive the lengthening of life by directly installing a resonator mirror at one end of an external tube wherein the resonator mirror is installed at the other end by a supporter also serving as an anode and one end of a narrow tube provided along the central axis of the external tube is surrounded by a cathode in the external tube. CONSTITUTION:An external tube 2 is installed by reflecting laser light 8 by a half mirror 9 so that the light 8' may pass through the center of a narrow tube 1. Next, a mirror 7a is placed on the end surface 2a of the external tube to reflect the light 8' and the pattern of reflected light 8'' is projected on a screen 10. When a concentric pattern has been obtained, the mirror 7a and then a mirror 7b are sealed 6 by glass to finish a gas laser tube. A cathode 5 is previously pressed to the internal circumference of one end of the external tube 2 and surrounds the one end of the narrow tube 1 for installation. In this composition, the discharge current at the tip of the narrow tube is distributed to a wide area if the whole length is the same as the conventional one. Therefore, a deterioration in cathode decreases and the lengthening of life is attained.
