Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the burning of a reflecting mirror and to obtain a high power laser light from a solid state laser oscillator by limiting the laser light under the oscillating conditions to condense the laser light of a small spot size on the mirror. CONSTITUTION:A laser rod 4 is disposed between the first and the second reflecting mirrors 2 and 3 faced to form an interval L1 of an optical oscillator 1, a photovoltaic lamp 5 is provided parallel to the rod 4 to excite the rod 4 with the lamp 5, an optical shutter 6 is disposed between the rod 4 and the mirror 3 and the oscillation beam is shielded during the prescribed period of time. The shutter 6 is so controlled by a shutter controlling circuit 9 as to limit the laser light under the oscillating conditions to condense the laser light of small spot size on the mirror 3.
