Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover liquid crystal ahdered to the surrounding of the charging port of a liquid crystal cell by a method in which when charging liquid crystal into the liquid crystal cell, the liquid crystal adhered to the surrouding of the charging port of the cell is absorbed in a holder, extracted with an organic solvent, and then separated.
CONSTITUTION: When charging a liquid crystal into the charging port of a liquid crystal cell 1, excessive liquid 4 crystal is often adhered to the surrounding of the charging port 2, and hence the liquid crystal 4 is absorbed in a holder 5 incapable of contaminating the liquid crystal and also of having excellent capillary effect, e.g., quartz fiber yarn, etc. The holder 5 is then treated with an organic solvent having a high solubility, e.g., benzene, methanol, acetone, ethanol, toluene, flon, etc., for extracting the liquid crystal. Then, the extrat is degassed by a vacuum rotary evaporator, etc., and the liquid crystal present in the extract is separated and recovered.
