Abstract

PURPOSE:To induce the electric charge sufficient for the toner and obtain the image of high quality by using a rotay sleeve having a roughened surface and providing a doctor member approximately opposite to the center of the magnetic poles of permanent magnets. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic roller 5 of the developing device is consitituted of a freely rotatable rotary sleeve 6 fitted onto a shaft and permanent magnets 7 fixed to the shaft and located in the sleeve 6. Here, the surface of the sleeve 6 is roughened by a method such as known sandblasting or index shaving or the like. A doctor member 9 is provided in approximate opposition to the center of the magnetic pole S1 of the permanent magnets 7 on the supply side near a toner thak 8. With such constitution, the slip of the toner is prevented, whilist the setting of a gap is made easy and a uniform thin layer is formed, whereby the sufficient electric charge is induced and the images of high quality are obtained.
