Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the mechanical sticking of an amorphous coil and to prevent the temp. rise during production by charging molten metal continuously into the annular groove holding the cooling medium liquid on the inside circumferential surface of a hollow revolving roll. CONSTITUTION:A cooling medium 12 is charged through a replenishing nozzle 18 into an annular groove G provided on the inside circumferential surface of a hollow revolving roll 11, and the medium 12 is held in the groove G by the centrifugal force of the roll 11. On the other hand, the metal melted by a high frequency induction coil 13 in a melting crucible 14 made of a nonreactive material, for example, quartz glass, is flowed from the leading end of a nozzle 15 into the groove G. Here, the molten metal is quickly cooled and solidified at the rate at which it is made amorphous by the medium 12. The amorphous metallic coil 16 formed in this way is easily stripped by blowing compressed air with a nozzle 17, whereby the coil 16 is produced continuously. Also, at this time, the medium 12 blown off by air from the groove G is continuously replenished with the nozzle 18.
