Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a vertical magnetized recording medium utilizing the magneto- optic effect of a good S/N ratio, by using amorphous rare earth -3d transition metal materials and Co-Cr as a slave medium and a master medium respectively.
CONSTITUTION: A master medium 13 consisting of a Co-Cr layer 11 and a low Hc magnetic layer 12 consisting of Fe(Fe-Ni) or the like and a slave medium 17 consisting of a transparent base 16, a magnetic layer 15 consisting of amorphous rare earth -3d transition metal materials (such as TbFe), and a protection film (an SiO film of about several hundredsWseveral thousand Å thickness) 14 are so laminated that the magnetic layer 12 and the protection film 14 are brought into contact with each other, thereby obtaining a recording medium. When the thermis rays 18 are irradiated to this recording medium through the base 16 of the slave medium 17, the slave medium 17 is magnetized vertically by the residual magnetic flux on the surface of the master medium 13, and information of the master medium 13 is transferred to the slave medium 17 thermally and magnetically.
