Abstract

PURPOSE:To demodulate an FM signal, reproduced by a low-carrier FM type recoder, with less distortion, by extracting and adding the carrier components of the FM signal and by emphasizing the carrier components. CONSTITUTION:An FM signal having unbalance between both side-bands of a low carrier FM system is inputted to a limiter amplifier 2 after a signal in a unnecesary band is eliminated by a BPF1. After limiter amplification, the FM signal is inputted to the phase-locked loop PLL consisting of a phase comparator 21, an LPF22 and a voltage-controlled oscillator 23. Then, the LPF22 performs sufficient attenuation to a modulation frequency to put the oscillation signal of the voltage-controlled oscillator 23 in the same phase with the FM signal carrier of the input. A carrier extracted by the PLL Is added to the original FM signal to emphasize only the carrier signal. Then, the output of the adder 22 is detected by a detector 3 to perform distortion-free demodulation. Thus, the modulation is carried out with less distortion.
