Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve simple and reliable control of double injection of fuel by a fuel injection valve for a diesel engine which causes double injection during one cycle of the engine, by employing such an arrangement that auxiliary injection fuel and main injection fuel are pressurized separately and ejected from respective orifices.
CONSTITUTION: In a nozzle body 1 attached in a combustion chamber 2, the top of a second fuel passage 4 for feeding main injection fuel under pressure is communicated to a second pressure chamber 5 which is opened in the combustion chamber 2 via a main office 6. Here, the main orifice 6 is opened and closed by a main valve body 7 fitted in a slide hole 8 of the nozzle body 1 and having a top serving as a pressure receiving surface 7a in the pressure chambers. On the other hand, a first fuel passage 3 for feeding auxiliary injection fuel under pressure is communicated to a first pressure chamber 11 via a fuel sump 9 and a connecting passage 10. The chamber 11 is opened at the central part of the main orifice 6 via an auxiliary orifice 12. Here, the auxiliary orifice 12 is opened and closed by an auxiliary valve body 14 fitted in a slide hole 13 of the main valve body 7 and having a top serving as a pressure receiving surface 14a in the chamber 11.
