Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote fuel atomization during idle running, by providing, in an atmospheric air introduction passage for fuel atomization due to a fuel injection system, a valve which opens the passage at the same time as the fuel injection timing during the engine running under light load.
CONSTITUTION: A jet port 10 for fuel atomizing air is fitted into a socket 5 with its opening direction pointing to the fuel jetted from a nozzle 9a of a fuel injection valve 9, and is connected to an atmospheric air introduction passage 11 extending between a cylinder head 3 and an intake manifold 2. The other end of the passage 11 opens to an intake air passage 1 upstream of a throttle valve 12. A control circuit 13 receives signals from an air flow sensor 14 and a speed sensor 15, and calculates the fuel injection timing and the amount of fuel to be injected and produces pulse signals indicating the fuel injection timing and the amount of fuel to be injected, pulse signals thereof are transmitted to a solenoid valve 16 for opening and closing the fuel injection valve 9 and the introduction passage 11 so that the fuel injection timing of the valve 9 and the valve opening period of the valve 16 are synchronized together. Accordingly, since suf?ficient air is fed for fuel atomization and the solenoid valve 16 is not opened at the timing other than the fuel injection excess air is never introduced so that the idle speed is not increased.
