Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a piezoelectric porcelain device having preferable temperature characteristic with less propagation loss of surface acoustic wave by employing Pb- TiO3 ceramic made of fine crystal particles. CONSTITUTION:The propagation loss of the surface acoustic wave of a PbTiO3 ceramic depends on the crystalline grain size D, and when D=0.1-1mum is selected, it is adapted for high frequency material. Further, a portion of the Pb is substituted by Pr, Nd, Sm, or Gd, and Ti is partly substituted by one of Mn, In, Al, Ga. Thus, a material stable for temp. with lower dielectric constant can be obtd., and the surface acoustic wave element with this material provides low insertion loss even in high frequency region and excellent temp. characteristics.
