Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photoconductive member which is all-enrironment type and free from an aging phenomenon regardless of the repetitive use, by providing a specific intermediate layer between a photoconductive layer composed of amorphous silicon hydride and a supporter of this photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer 102 that prevents a flow of carrier from the side of a supporter (for example, metals such as stainless steel or Al, glass, paper, etc.) 101 into a photoconductive layer 103 and has a function that allows the passing of the carrier which is produced into the layer 103 by the irradiation of electromagnetic wave and moves toward the supporter 101 is provided between the supporter 101 and the layer 103 composed of an amorphous material containing the H atom with the Si atom used as the parent body. The layer 102 is composed of a metallic oxide (for example, TiO2, Al2O3, etc.) having the electric insulation property and has a 30-1,000Angstrom thickness. A photoconductive member thus obtained is always stable in terms of the electrical, optical and photoconductive characteristics respectively, has no using limitation to the environment and extremely high resistance to the optical fatigue, causes no deterioration regardless of the repetitive use and has no residual potential to be observed.
