Abstract
PURPOSE:To inhibit the pulling up of molten metal during pulling up of a steel plate and considerably improve plating speed by forming a carbon powder-contg. plating preventive film on a plating preventive by inorg. fine powder while it is wet. CONSTITUTION:For example, a steel strip 1 to be plated on one side is coated with the 1st coating agent 3 with a berth coater 2. The agent 3 consits of a water glass soln. dispersed therein with thermally stable inorg. fine powder such as clay. While this preventive film is substantially wet, that is, before it converts to a through solid phase, soot is coated thereon with a masking burner 4. The burner 4 produces soot efficiently by burning a hydrocarbon such as propane, and blows the combustion flames thereof onto the 1st coated layer. Next, the steel strip 1 is immersed in a zinc plating bath via an oxidizing furnace 5, a throat 6 and a reducing furnace 7, after which it is pulled up and is cooled, thence it is removed of the preventive film with a brushing roll 13. Two layers of said preventive films are highly smooth, are easy to remove and are dense, thereby preventing the oxidation of the surface requiring no plating.
