Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain film especially suitable for polarization membrane by forming film having 1W1,000 pieces/mm2 of craters of diameter less than 40μ and depth less than 60% of film thickness and principal peaks of the melting curve characteristic of DSC.
CONSTITUTION: A film is formed by casting or solution coating of the solution in which saponified product of ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer is dissolved in alcohol- water mixed solvent. Obtained film has 1W1,000 pieces/mm2 of craters of diameter less than 40μ and depth less than 60% of film thickness, and principal peaks of the melting curve by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) present plural independent peaks. Obtained film is useful for raw film to be stretched, especially raw film of polarization membrane, it is obtained by stretching film over ca. 1.5 times and contacting liquid containing the polarization element.
