PURPOSE:To prevent temperature rise perfectly, and to enhance safety of an apparatus, by monitoring an exposure means and a temperature rise preventing means, and disconnecting supply of power to the exposure means on detecting its abnormality. CONSTITUTION:Pushing a copying key turns on a motor 14, drives a uniform exposure lamp, a primary transformer, an AC transformer, etc., and a copying cycle is executed. A clock number for executing a rotation cycle is set in RAM in a controller 12. On the end of the rotation control, lighting of an exposure lamp 29 is monitored with CdS28 and this detection output is given through a comparator 39 to the controller 12. Action of a cooling fan 31 is monitored with an air flow amount sensor 32, and this detection output is also sent to the controller 12. When abnormality is detected in these detection outputs with the controller 12, feed of power to the lamp 29 is cut, and further, output of a voltage VAA for driving is disconnected.
