Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a heat roller fixing device, by discriminating a fault of the device in case the temperature of a heat roller does not reach a prescribed level within a certain period of time or the temperature exceeds the prescribed level within the prescribed time after detecting the temperature of the heat roller, then discontinuing the heating. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a heat roller is detected 11 by a thermistor 3 and then compared 12 with the set temperature, and the result of comparison is supplied to a CPU10 and a temperature control circuit 13. The CPU10 contains an RAM and an ROM to set the temperature and control the ON/OFF of the power supply. A wait lamp 6a is lit up at first during the warm-up mode to reject the print input. A timer of the CPU10 starts counting along with the heating 2 by the signal H supplied from the comparator 12. Then a fault is decided in case the signal H lasts for >=30sec in the stand-by mode and for >=40sec in the working mode respectively. Thus a heater 2 is turned off with a trouble lamp 6b turned on. In the working mode, a pulse disk 8 is driven by a main motor 7 to protect one routine, and the pulse signals produced by photocouplers 9a and 9b are supplied to the CPU10.
