Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify an operation, by a method wherein a coupling valve, allowing two chambers in a power cylinder to function as a bypass, is caused to operate in synchronism with an opening and closing operation of an electric motor for oil pump driving, and a power steering and manual steering can be selected.
CONSTITUTION: A coupling valve 10, allowing two chambers 1a and 1b in a power cylinder 1 to function as a bypass, is mounted. An oil pump 6 does not actuate in case an electric motor 20 stops running, whereby no pressure is exerted on a port P, and as a result, ports A' and B' in the valve 10 are in an opening state. With this, the two chambers 1a and 1b are set into a state to function as a bypass, and a power is released to bring a device into a manual steering condition. Meanwhile, the pump 6 is driven at the time when the motor runs, a spool 12 is moved in the direction of an arrow mark, and a piston part 12a is set into a state to close the ports A' and B'. Under this state, an oil pressure is exerted directly on the power cylinder 1 to set the device into a power steering manner.
