PURPOSE:To realize the loop back system with a simple method without adding special signals, by constituting the transmission line of a normal system signal path transmitting information signals mainly and a spare system transmission path transmitting discriminating signals mainly toward opposite direction to the information sigals. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of transmission/reception stations ST1-ST6 having a communication controller C are connected in cascade. The transmission line connecting the transmitter T and the receiver R of the stations ST1-ST6 consists of a normal system transmission line A transmitting information signals and a spare system transmission line B mainly transmitting identification signals toward opposite direction to the transmission line A. If the disconnection of line is taken place at X-marked position on the transmission line A, the failure is detected at the receiver R of the normal system of the station ST1, the status of the station ST1 is changed, and the receiver R of the spare system of the station ST6 detects the failure from the result of this change to change the status of the station ST6, allowing to achieve the loop back path.
