A wire command circuit 17 always delivers a write command signal 18 in a certain period while the signal 16 is applied. A sequential transfer storage device 30 shifts the contents stored at that moment by a prescribed number of bits every time the signal 18 is applied and stores the input signals 21 and 22 at that moment by a certain number of bits. The contents of storage which are transferred successively and exceed the storage capacity are erased successively. Accordingly the latest values of the signals 21 and 22 are stored in the device 30 at all times. If the control system becomes inactive by some factor, the device 30 is removed successively from the control system. Then the fault is diagnosed from the contents of storage.
