Abstract
PURPOSE:To exactly diagnose a fault in the data processing system, by automatically receiving and storing the hardware information extending over the whole system, when a hardware fualt has occurred. CONSTITUTION:When a fault has occurred in the system, an operator touches the hardware dump area of the display with a light pen. As a result, data of the memory of the service processor SVP5 and the hardware area are picked up and are stored in the SVP disk 8 together with the address. Subsequently, in the same way, data of the respective hardware areas of the main processor CPU1, the channel controller CHC2, and the channels CH3, 4 are picked up and are stored in the disk 8 in order. In this way, a fault in the data processing system can be diagnosed exactly by analyzing a data at the time of a fault, which has been stored in the SVP disk 8.
