Since this head 3j has a gap angle which is same as a video track angle theta, it is possible enough to detect only whether a video signal exists or not, and the like. Accordingly, by taking AND of an output of the head 3j and an output of an overall cleared head which has been arranged before the video head, an clearing operation and a recording state of new information are confirmed.
