Abstract
PURPOSE:To correct efficiently errors in both width and longitudinal directions of a track, by changing data words to a group in accordance with weighting of each bit, when forming a parity in the width and longitudinal directions of the track. CONSTITUTION:Digital words S1, S2... are distributed in order by each word to i-th, i+d-th, i+2d-th recording tracks, and a P parity word is formed by 3 words which are continued as time series. These digital word groups from a frame by adding a Q parity word together with a synchronizing code and an error detecting code. Also, data words of each frame constitute a group in accordance with weighting of each bit of data, respectively. And, a P parity is constituted by combining the groups of data words which have been time-delayed in the longitudinal direction of a track, varying track in order, which is made a parity word in the frame. Also, a Q parity is formed by combining the groups of data words and parity words, and is distributed and recorded to residual tracks.
