Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture an ultralow-carbon steel having <=0.003% C content by attaching a plurality of tuyeres to the bottom of a top blowing oxygen converter, blowing one or >=2 kinds of gases selected from an inert gas, O2 and CO2 simultaneously with the top blowing of oxygen to adjust the C concn. of molten steel to a specified value or below, and carrying out degassing. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of tuyeres are attached to the bottom of a top blowing oxygen converter, and one or >=2 kinds of gases selected from an inert gas, O2 and CO2 are blown into molten steel from the tuyeres simultaneously with the top blowing of oxygen to refine a steel contg. <=0.015%C. The total amount of the gases blown from the bottom is about 0.01-0.3Nm<3>/min/t. The resulting low-carbon molten steel is degassed.
