Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to install a surge tank without decreasing the strength of the vehicle frame, by utilizing the surge tank as a strength member for the vehicle frame in an intake system comprising a turbocharger and a surge tank.
CONSTITUTION: An engine a has a turbocharger b at a downstream part of the joining part 9 of exhaust pipes 3, and atmospheric air compressed by the turbocharger b is once reserved in a surge tank 11 so that the air flow is regulated therein. The inlet side of the surge tank 11 connected via a pipe member 12 to the turbocharger b, while the outlet side is connnected to a carburetor 15 via ducts 13 and connecting pipes 14. Here, the tank 11 is clamped in the manner of coupling frame members on the opposite sides of the vehicle frame A. That is, the back of the tank 11 is welded to seat pillar tubes 5 at two parts on the opposite sides of the tank 11. By thus connecting the two tubes 5, 5 by the tank 11, it is enabled to reinforce the vehicle body A.
