Abstract
PURPOSE: To develop a light reinforcing collar and to save material resources by reinforcing an L-shaped thin throttling reinforcing collar with the end part of the outer periphery bent outwards and with the end lip nip part of the bent-up inner periphery.
CONSTITUTION: The thickness (t) of an L-shaped reinforcing collar 2 of the oil seal 1 of a rubber outer periphery is one half to one third as much as the reinforcing collar of the general oil seal. This is extremely thin, so that the reinforcing collar 2 can be lightened, which will do much toward saving material resources. The strength of the reinforcing collar 2 drops because of its thinning, but it is strengthened by bending the end part 3 of outer periphery of the reinforcing collar 2 outwards and bending up the lip nip part 4 of the inner peripheral end. The thinning of the reinforcing collar can facilitate sealing function and bring improvements against the eccentricity and vibration.
