Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and obtain a long life of a sodium-sulfur cell, by providing a diffusion layer containing aluminum to the surface of a positive pole metallic material of current collector or the like contacted with a positive pole active material. CONSTITUTION:Fused sulfur impregnated to a positive pole conductive material 7 consisting of graphite felt and positive pole active material 8 of sodium polysulfide are contained in a cell vessel 9 combined for use of positive pole current collector material, and in its central portion a sodium ionic conductive solid electrolytic pipe 1 consisting of beta-alumina is provided, further in this solid electrolytic pipe 1 a negative pole active material 3 of fused sodium, impregnation held to a metallic fiber 2 of stainless or the like, and a negative pole terminal pipe 4 are provided and sealed by a negative pole cover 5 and fixing member 6 or the like to form a sodiumsulfur cell. At this time, a diffusion layer containing aluminum is formed by, for instance, diffusion treatment to the surface of a positive pole constitutional metallic material of current corrector or the like contacted with the positive pole active material 8.
