Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a mast of larger rigidity by preparing the same of generally circular sectioned cylindrical pole of protruded reinforcement formed on its outer circle in making the section dimentionally enlarged to both bow and stern directions.
CONSTITUTION: The mast is to be made of fiber reinforced plastic compound mate rial of a rich use of carbon fiber. The layer 21 and its reinforcement layer 22 formed on both bow and stern side on the periphery of this layer 21 are reinforced with carbon fiber arranged in parallel with the mast axis. The reinforcement layer 22 is designed to increase the bending rigidity of the mast to both bow and stern directions and is formed to protrude outward from the layer 21 thus making the section of the mast dimensionally increased to both bow and stern directions. The layers 23, 24 are the plastic layers reinforced with glass fiber, namely a sort of fiber cloth reinforced to directions of ±20W±70 degrees against the mast's axis to increase the torsional rigidity of the mast.
