Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the impression of overspreading of sounds and prevent the level of center components from changing, by applying the difference signal to left and right channels in the same phase and the opposite phase in accordance with the level of center components. CONSTITUTION:Respective channels signals L and R are inputted to subtractors 10 and 12 and an adder 11 to becomes a difference signal L-R and a sum singnal L+R. Sum and difference signal components of the adder 11 and the subtractor 12 are rectified by detectors 1 and 2 are inputted to smoothers 6 and 7 and are converted to DC levels. These DC outputs V+ and V- are amplified by differential amplifier 3 to obtain an output Vc, and this output is used as a control signal for a gain control amplifier 4. In this constitution, the output Vc becomes a signal corresponding to the level of center components if signals L and R have a correlation.
