Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the antistatic effect, to avoid discharge noise and lowering in coercive force, and to increase running performance, by inserting a specified quaternary ammonium salt as an antistatie agent between a magnetic layer and a base layer or applying it on the surface of magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Quaternary ammonium salt expressed by the formula is uniformly coated on the surface of magnetic layer of magnetic recording medium and heated to produce a magnetic tape. Or, it is coated between the magnetic layer and the base layer, or applied on the surface opposite to the magnetic layer of the base layer to produce the magnetic tape. Thus, the magnetic tape which can have excellent antistatic property even after repetitive use, excellent running performance and winding shape, small friction coefficient and ease of manufacture, can be obtained.
