Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of operation of an air conditioner, by detecting the temperature in a room to be air-conditioned and a setting temperature, effecting ON- OFF control of the speed of a coolant compressor the capacity of which is varied in a stepless manner in a small temperature-difference region while controlling the same by a maximum setting value in a large temperature-difference region, and enabling to change the maximum setting value manually.

CONSTITUTION: A temperature difference ΔT between the room temperature and a set temperature is calculated by applying output signals of a room-temperature detector 11 and a room-temperature setting means 12 to a differential amplifier 13, and a temperature-difference signal VT produced by the amplifier 13 is applied to a speed instruting circuit 9. On the basis of the signal VT, an on-off circuit 26 effects on-off control of a compressor by restricting a speed instructing signal VN at a maximum value in case that the signal VT is higher than a setting voltage V_d of a variable resistor 16 in a maximum value restricting circuit 14 while restricting the speed instructing signal VN at a setting voltage VL of minimum value restricting circuits 22, 23 in case that the signal VT is lower than the voltage VL. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to raise the efficiency of space cooling and heating operation and to select the maximum cooling and heating capacity freely according to the conditions in the room to be air-conditioned.
