Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the lustrous property of a deposit and the stability of the stannous ion by a method wherein specified amounts of potassium gold cyanide, the stannous ion, a metal of Group Ia, IVa, Va, VIa or VIIa of the Periodic Table, a nonmetal of Group IVb, Vb or VIb and a compound capable of complexing the above mentioned metal or nonmetal are incorporated in a gold alloy plating bath.
CONSTITUTION: In the gold alloy plating bath are incorporated 1W100g/l (as gold) of potassium gold cyanide, 5W100g/l of the stannous ion singly or together with up to 80g/l of at least one element selected from the group consisting of metals of Groups Ia, IVa, Va, VIa and VIIa and nonmetals of Groups IVb, Vb and VIb as ions, and 500W800g/l of at least one compound which can complex said metal or nonmetal however small amount it may be. The compound for forming the complex ion is preferably an organic carboxylic acid. Incidentally, up to 100g/l of gelatin, toluidine, pepton or the like may be added to the bath as a brightener and up to 100g/l of hydrazine sulfate, hydroxylamine sulfate or the like may be added to the bath as an antioxidant for Sn(I).
