Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate an enantiomeric mixture of compounds having -NH linked to an atom at the asymmetric carbon atom or the α-position to the asymmetric carbon atom, by using an optically active tartaric ester as a stationary phase in the gas chromatography.
CONSTITUTION: An enantiomeric mixture of compounds, e.g. N-acylated amino acid ester or N-acylated amino acid amide, having -NH linked to the asymmetric carbon atom or at the α-position to the assymetric carbon atom is separated by using a levorotatory or dextrorotatory tartaric ester, e.g. l-methyl L-tartrate, ex- pressed by the formula (* is asymmetric carbon atom; R and R' are alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl which may have a substituent group) as a stationary phase in the gas chromatography. A capillar column is preferably used as the gas chromatographic column.
