Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain having an uniform rate of expansion and an uniform rate of shrinkage of heat and useful to magnetic disk etc. by extending transversely a longitudinally rolled film at a temperature above the glass transition, thermally setting the film under a specific thermal condition, and shrinking it preventing a boing phenomena. CONSTITUTION:Immediately after a thermal plastic resin film (for example: polyethyrene terephthalate etc.) rolled longitudinally and uniaxially at a temperature of glass transition is rolled transversely, a film temperature is made lower than a glass transition. Then the film is thermally set at a temperature of a melting point 20 deg.C- a melting point -100 deg.C while both the ends are held and it is loosely treated so as to permit a shinkage of the film at a thermal range including the highest temperature (for example 180-235 deg.C) of a thermosetting temperature shrinking transversely 0.1-10%. Therefore the resulting biaxial roll films are obtained.
