Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve safety by a method wherein a high voltage is applied to a cathode-ray tube only when an on-off switch controlled by metal fittings of the cathode-ray tube and a switcy interlocked with an operating handle are turned on. CONSTITUTION:When a cathode-ray tube 1 is placed on a container 4, metal fittings 2 of the cathode-ray tube are inserted into a concave portion provided on the container 4 so that the cathode-ray tube is fixed on the container 4 and instantly a switch 6 is pressed by the metal fittings 2 and turned on. Next, a switch 7 is turned on when an operating handle 5 is held down. The switch 6 is used to turn on and off a high voltage generator 8 of a tester. Since the switch 7 is provided between the high voltage generator 8 of the tester and an anode contact piece 10, a high voltage is applied to an anode electrode 3 of the cathode-ray tube 1 via the anode contact piece 10 when both the switches 6, 7 are turned on.
