Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic film having excellent coercive force and pressure demagnetization by forming an Fe2O3 film on a substrate containing as a main ingredient aluminum alloy by a reaction deposition method and converting it to gamma-Fe2O3 film by oxidation. CONSTITUTION:Fe-Co-Fe alloy containing more than 2% of Co and more than 1% of Cu is evaporated in O2 atmosphere of 4-5.10<-4>Torr (preferably 4.5X10<-4>Torr), an Fe3O4 film containing Co and Cu is formed on the aluminum alloy substrate, is thermally oxidized to form gamma-Fe2O3 film, and a magnetic recording medium with oxide magnetic thin film having preferably magnetic characteristic can be obtained.
